John Kinaga-MSc Rural Engineering (Cranfield University-UK) and BSC in Agricultural Engineering from University of Nairobi Kenya. John works with KickStart International as the Director of Programs & Partnerships in Africa. John has been with KickStart since 1997, at first as Project Manager for a highly successful USAID funded initiative to create agricultural enterprises and jobs in rural Kenya. Since 2005 John has been in charge of our successful Global Institutional Partnerships Program, building it from scratch, now traveling extensively and supplying clients in over 20 African countries and elsewhere with Agricultural Water Management (AWM) solutions. He has worked in many Africa countries with governments, NGOs partners- working with small scale farmers- and the private sector value chain to introduce small scale irrigation to improve farmer’s income and livelihood. His long and successful career at KickStart was preceded by 13 years’ service with the Ministry of Agriculture working on agricultural mechanization, rural technology development, and a 2-year secondment to FAO on rural oilseed processing. John’s deep knowledge of working and building relationships with Partners working with smallholder farmers and his understanding of government protocols is invaluable in shaping our policies for creating more impacts to smallholder farmers across Africa.
